FREE Cal Science & Engineering Festival at UC Berkeley

The College of Chemistry is participating in a community celebration of science!

Explore the wonders of science with activities for the whole family at the first-ever Cal Science & Engineering Festival. This free, outdoor event will take place at UC Berkeley, on Spieker Plaza (located next to Haas Pavilion) on Saturday, October 23 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

It’s all about science in action! You’ll put solar power to the test, get hands-on with ancient fossils, discover the science + sports connection, make your own earthquake, and more! Meet Cal scientists-and experience the excitement and wonder of the science they do.

The Cal Science & Engineering Festival is sponsored by the UC Berkeley Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, and presented in conjunction with the USA Science & Engineering Festival -the country’s first national science festival, which will take place in Washington, D.C.

Unicycle Basketball by the Berkeley Revolution Unicycle Basketball Team
Watch this amazing team play, and discover surprising science connections. Game-time is 10:00am to noon.

Quake! by the Berkeley Seismological Laboratory
Make your own earthquake, using a block slider model.
